- North Invent is a 4 year old company, established by the chief R&D manager from the Norwegian Hatteland (the major producer of maritime monitors on a worldwide basis), Mr. Harry Rørvik started the company North Invent A/S together with two Danes. After few years of development of products and search for sales opportunities, money was lacking and two investors (the Norwegian "Arenaco" and the Danish "Norberg" Invest) came into the company. The company is based on the mainland in Denmark (Jylland), in a little town called Hedensted. Here North Invent has a 1.600 Sqm production and office facility in the so called "house of display", where three companies specialized in different areas within the display business are based. Today 16 persons are directly employed by the company and many more are linked to North Invent, as one of the major reasons for the success is that expertise is bought when needed (out-sourcing).
- North Invent is specializing on maritime monitors. North Invent has developed a modular system for building maritime monitors in a way that allow us to use the same components in the different types of monitors. This gives a much higher possibility of swopping production plans from one monitor to another (accommodate customer wishes / needs very quickly), in a component market, where a lead time of up to 4 months is common. North Invent has the mechanical and the electronical experience in-house. North Invent has a basis product line of two models. The traditional model for commercial ships and a model for the yacht market. In addition, North Invent has the possibility to build customer built monitors (OEM production). The selling points are: ECDIS approved monitors, absolute best dimming quality on the market, quick response toward customer needs, world class development team, reasonable pricing (as we do not have huge overheads, which helps keeping pricing at a moderate level).
- The global market is around 40.000 monitors a year, North Invent will this year manufacture approx. 3.000 monitors, which means we have a worldwide market share of around 8 %. The goal for North Invent is to become one of the top two players in this market segment within the next 3 years. The typical clients for North Invent are system integrators who develop ship-bridges, ship yards, navy and mega yacht's builders. The positioning of North Invent is "the champagne brand" we are bobbling with great ideas which helps our customers to use our monitors with their different applications.
- North Invent will stay in the marine monitor business, specializing in this specific market segment. There is anyhow other market segments for monitors which require the same tuff specifications as maritime monitors (100% dimming, waterproof, vibration proof, damage proof, heat and cold resistance) and these markets will over the next few years also be taken into consideration by North Invent.
- North Invent has nominated M-Comp Asia their exclusive agent / distributor of the maritime monitors on the Korean market. This trip is to start up the business, presenting North Invent and our agent to potential customers. It is also a trip to understand where the Korean market is today and where it will be tomorrow.
- Korea is the largest shipbuilding nation worldwide with approx 40% of the global ship building (based on DWT). The world's biggest shipyards are placed in Korea. Korea has a well functioning "Ship builders association" with 9 shipyards as members. China has over the past years built new modern ship yards and is today the number two on the global market with Japan being on position 3. These three nations have 61% of the world market together.
- North Invent will via personal visits (starting next week and continuing over the next months) promote its products, as well as informing potential clients about features and benefits in a direct mailing activity. In October 2008 North Invent will be present with a booth on the Korean fairs Madex and In-Marine in order to present on first hand the products to potential customers.
